FK Drina participated in the Serbian biggest soccer event in North America. This year we merged with FK Ravna Gora from Los Angeles. Our team competed in over 35 category.In 2007 we played in semi-final and lost from the penalty spot from 2007 winner team from Las Vegas.In Hamilton we didn’t play on the level we expected so we didn’t qualify to the second round. But on the other side we visited all local attractions, including the best Serbian restaurant “Logan”.

Music and food were really good. Organization of the Srbijada 2008 was bellow our expectation and the level this event should be. Hope 2009 year host will do much better job.

FK Drina played on Bulgarian soccer tournament - BABA 2008 on Saturday, November 22, 2008. Playing with no subs in a final game FK Drina lost against Bulgarian team from San Francisco. First half was 0:0 and FK Drina had ball possession and couple of good opportunities to finish. Second half team from SF dropped down in defence and having more players on the bench tried to score from breaks. Playing deep defence FK Drina couldn't get open spot to finish and SF team had lot of opportunities from fast breaks.

After 15 min of the game SF team score 2 goals. FK Drina started playing much better and after couple of good passes on the middle we score 2 goals. Unfortunately SF team in next 5 min score back. It was irregular goal but referee didn’t see SF player used hands to push the ball. Our defence stopped expecting a call but with no whistle SF score 3:2.

 We open completely and tried to come back but that result in fast break aways and 4:2. Couple minutes later we had a great opportunity to score but Boris didn’t react good enough and ball went in out. That was the final result. We could do better but with no subs we did a great.

FK Drina won first place on Traditional Soccer Torunament - MITROVDAN 2008, Sacramento. This year we had two teams from Portland, Walnut Creek, San Francisco, Sacramento and San Jose.  FK Drina won first place in first round. Winning Portland 2 team (6:1) and tied with Walnut Creek 1:1.

In semifinal games FK Drina played against host, Sacramento.  Playing on short passes and finishing help FK Drina advanced to final game. Portland 2 team won in second semifinal game played against San Francsco.

All bets where on FK Drina to win after big victory in first round, but Portland show that they can play much better. After an early goal by Portland we had a lot of problems to find our game. First half finish with 1:0 for Portland.  At the begining of second half FK Drina scored an early goal and come back into the game.  Portland drop to the defence and tried to score with fast attacks.  FK Drina played more aggresive and that results in second goal (2:1)

That was the final score.  The best player and best striker was memeber of FK Drina team Boris.

On Sat, March 1st, 2008 FK Drina hosted WESTERN DIOCESE SOCCER TOURNAMENT 2008. Both FK Drina Team 1 and   Team 2 went to the semifinal games. Team 2 lost agains FK Ravna Gora - Los Angeles while FK Drina Team 1 after exciting game and extra time won Sacramento from the white spot. Final game between FK Ravna Gora and FK Drina  was packed with great soccer. Winner couldn’t be decided after regular time. In extra time FK Drina had more  fresh legs and score 2 goals. We would like thanks to all teams partcipating in this event.  Participating: St Archangel Michael, Saratoga St John the Baptist, San Francisco, Holy  Trinity, Sacramento, St Sava, Los Angeles.
